When I was little, I wanted a little parrot. You may be surprised that I wanted a parrot when I was a kid, because when I was a kid, at my age, everyone wanted a dog or a cat. But I always wanted a parrot. Believe me, when I was a kid, we were all really gushing over that parrot. That parrot was really beautiful and colorful and could speak ten different languages. So you can imagine how much fun the parrot was. When I told my parents I wanted a pet of my own, they just shrugged their shoulders and said if I wanted a hamster or a rabbit or a guinea pig, by all means do so.
I just rolled my eyes, a little embarrassed, and said I wanted a parrot. My parents looked at each other and couldn\’t believe their ears. I want a parrot? Where did you get it? So I told them that my elementary school teacher had a parrot at home too, and it was very smart and beautiful.
But when my parents found out that those parrots cost money, they told me not to get one. Because my teacher had a beautiful parrot that cost 10,000 kronor. My parents could not afford that. How disappointed and sad I was. In the end I got a cherub and a small hamster, which I was also very happy about. I am a big animal lover, so it is obvious that young children appreciate any animal. And now I am 30 and already have a parrot. He\’s a bit of a rare parrot, but I paid $5,000 for him, so it\’s a small price to pay. He\’s really my favorite, and I love parrots.
